Silverdraft Announces New Solutions for VR, Flame, and Deep Learning
NAB Las Vegas, April 17, 2016
Silverdraft Supercomputing, LLC, the pioneer in bringing supercomputing to media and entertainment, today launched three new members of the Devil/Demon family.
The Devil GPU Supercomputer is the first compact GPU accelerated supercomputer on the market. Powered by the NVIDIA® Tesla® Accelerated Computing Platform, the base configuration boasts 20 NVIDIA Tesla K80 GPU accelerators (99,840 CUDA cores) in 4 nodes interconnected via InfiniBand. The Devil can radically transform workflows for compute-intensive applications such as rendering, ray-tracing, and deep learning. Built in a super-quiet, mobile, compact enclosure it’s as much at home in a creative office environment as a high-powered artist’s suite. For datacenter deployment, Devils can be rack-mounted and connected via the InfiniBand network to achieve nearly limitless scalability.
The Demon VR is the first VR-optimized ultra-workstation for professional applications. The base configuration includes 32 GB of high-speed RAM and 2x NVIDIA Quadro® M6000 GPUs. Delivering never-before-seen performance rendering complex virtual scenes at high frame-rates (up to 90 frames per second) the Demon VR delivers smooth, seamless, deeply immersive VR experiences for complex datasets in product design and manufacturing as well as entertainment. The Demon VR is also the best machine for creation and authoring of VR content. No longer will artists have to wait for hours or days to preview stitched scenes captured from multi-sensor VR cameras. The Demon VR enables creators and editors to work on much faster production timelines to deliver immersive 360 video.
Silverdraft also announced a technology preview of a Demon configuration optimized for Autodesk Flame® delivering a sinfully fast experience for the artist. After years of collaboration with Autodesk in media and entertainment Silverdraft has delivered the ultimate platform designed from the ground up to unleash the creativity and productivity of artists working in Flame.
Silverdraft Supercomputing is also announcing that all standard configurations shipped will be equipped with NVIDIA GPUs, including Tesla K80 and M40 GPUs, and Quadro M6000 GPUs to provide the best possible graphics performance.
“Silverdraft has built our reputation by delivering phenomenal performance to artists and designers that unleash their inspiration and allow them to achieve extraordinary levels of creativity,” said Silverdraft CEO Amy Gile. “We’re excited to again push the technology envelope to deliver breakthrough performance to our customers. The Devil GPU offers an incredibly powerful alternative for render farms, delivering up to 3.5x the performance of CPU rendering in the same footprint. The VR Demon delivers exceptional price-performance to professional and industrial applications, while our preview of Autodesk Flame running on a Demon is the industry’s first glimpse at real-time playback at 4K and 8K, delivering the first viable client-attended 4K sessions.”
